CROATIA TOUR QUESTIONS

  • Absolutely not!
This is NOT an art or painting tour.
It is a holiday where we do a lot of relaxing - enjoying the food, sites and culture.
However, if you are a painter, you could easily do some painting or sketching during the free days.

  • Yes - but to make it more likely that you be able to join the tour, we strongly encourage you to find a partner to share with.

Given the size and nature of some of the hotels, single room availability is extremely limited.
Also, it is more cost effective to share because you don’t have to pay a single supplement.

  • You don’t need to be able to run a marathon, but you need to have reasonable mobility to walk up steps and distances.

There will be some walking on cobbled streets and some of the old towns have steps.

If you have any doubts, you may want to check with your doctor.

  • No - the price is for land only.

  • We do our very best to accomodate dietry requirements, but can not guarantee that they can always be met in all situations.

  • No - which is good, as some of the words are tricky to pronounce ( I know as I speak the language) :)
As with many countries in Europe, many people are multi-lingual.
Many people in Croatia speak English.

  • Unfortunately not - this is only for people over the age of 18

  • This does vary from year to year, but usually people are over the age of 40 with most being around retirement age.
We are not ageists though, so yes you can come if you are young :)

  • Yes - It certainly is. No need to worry, as it actually has one of the lowest rates of street crime in all of Europe.
In fact, a common comment I get from participants on my tour is how safe they feel in the streets.

WORKSHOP QUESTIONS

  • Yes - online courses are available at Sluga Watercolour Academy.
There is a free course on Watercolour materials and a paid course on Watercolour for Beginners.
    Find out more here

you can also enjoy some videos and snippets from courses on my Youtube channel here

  • You can vist Sluga Gallery website at any time and visit the workshops page to see updates.

However the best way, is to sign up to the monthly newsletter (click here) as subscibers are the first to find out about workshops.

  • I find that 5 days is a good period of time for a workshop to be able to get the core concepts across to students and also to give students time to warm up and get into a flow.

  • Yes you do.
If you have painted in watercolour before, usually the materials you have will be OK.
If you are a beginner, a list of suggested materials will be given to you and an opportunity to buy a beginners kit before the workshop.

  • No - at this time, I do not run weekend workshops at Sluga Gallery as we are open to the public on Weekends.

  • Although the majority of my workshops are based around watercolour, the principles taught can often be applied to any medium.
I also sometimes incorporate/offer drawing and mixed media.

  • Perfect!
Talent is over rated and a workshop is the best place to begin to get experience.
    Practise trumps talent any day!
Come along - it will change your life.

  • No.
All classes are for people 18 years and over.
The Online Sluga Watercolour School will be available for any age, so children can do the course, but be aware that the courses will be aimed at adults.

SLUGA GALLERY QUESTIONS

  • Yes we do.
We offer online gift vouchers for online purchases.
    These can be found here.

We also offer physical gift vouchers that can be only used in store.
You can pop into the gallery to organise a physical gift voucher or simple contact us direct via email or phone.

  • Yes we do.
If you see a painting that you simply must have to enrich your life, but the price is beyond you current budget, simply talk to us and we are happy to work out a lay-by option for you.
NOTE: We also offer Afterpay for online purchases of physical products. See next question.

  • We offer Afterpay on all physical products purchased from our website.
Afterpay is not available for services (such as workshops) or for in store purchases.

  • Rarely.
Accepting commissions is conditional on many factors.
One of them is that I must have artistic freedom - after all, it is my artistic vison and interpretation that makes the work unique.
Commissions are also about 2 to 3 times the price of a normal painting.
If you are interested in a commission, I am willing to listen, but unless it ticks all the boxes, I am unlikely to accept.
Having said that, I have done a few, so it isn’t out of the question.

  • Something we work very hard at.
It is basically the best type and quality of print you can get in regards to longevity and colour accuracy.
In essence it is the next best thing to an original.
You can find out more about it here.

  • I may be known as a Watercolourist, but I trained as an oil painter.
In the Gallery we have watercolours mostly, but also oils, acrylics and mixed media at various times.
We also have photographs by Nancy, so there is plenty of work to choose from to find that perfect work for your walls.

  • It is tricky for people to get their head around it, but it is pronounced “Slooga”.
The Gallery is named Sluga Gallery after our surname “Sluga”, which is of Croatian heritage.

  • Nancy is the framer and has had 20 years experience in bringing the best out of an art work.
All our works of art are framed in house by Nancy.
You can also bring your own work in to be framed.
NOTE: we do not stretch canvases.

  • We offer free postage for purchases made online over $100.
Framed paintings can be couriered to you at your expense. We use professional Art couriers to keep the glass covered paintings safe.
If you are local, we also offer a delivery service for originals, or you can simply collect in person from the Gallery.

  • No.
All works in the Sluga Gallery are produced with love by members of the Sluga family.

  • At times Sluga Gallery is closed to the public so that Charles can conduct his week long workshops.
At other times we are closed to allow us to frame, produce art work or to simply have a rest period to allow the creative juices to recover and flow again.
Please check the website or google to check current opening times.
